Parking Permit Program. ParkTucson (the city's parking authority) has a Residential Parking Permit Program.  This prohibits parking within a neighborhood by non-residents and allows it only for residents who have purchased permits from the city. (See link). Adoption of the permit program requires approval by at least 75% of the property owners in the neighborhood.

In anticipation of potential neighborhood interest in parking permits, the MDMA Parking Committee is creating a Voter Pamphlet. It will include relevant information about the program and arguments for or against permits. For practical reasons, arguments will be limited to 300 words. Also, depending on the number submitted, not all may be included if adequately covered by others. If you have a permit position on parking you want to share, please submit to Rick Jones.

Fountain to Planter transformation: It took awhile, but with perseverance by an all-volunteer committee, some hired labor, and some financial support from the MDMA board,  it has finally happened.  Many thanks to the committee members who brainstormed WHAT should  happen and HOW it could happen:  Ross Sheard, Mary Hardin, Mary Lu Breshears, Giada Gallo-Quiroz, Jane Wright, Carol Griffith - and our ever-present MDMA support staff, Annette .  BIG, BIG thanks to Gilbert Gonzales and his green thumb(s) for the generous donation of the plants AND his expertise and labor on planting day.  And to Brandon Griffith and kids, and all the members of the Khandewal-Ruiz family for pitching in the hard labor to make it happen.  It takes a village - and it was a fun project. While the plants take hold and grow there needs to be special attention paid to watering and plant health….so we’ll all be watching.
